Abenteuer Natur

ADVENTURE DAY “Face-to-face with nature”

The focus of this hike is on experiencing nature and overcoming difficulties together. Very often, teenagers only know nature from TV, internet and video games. It is only rarely that they get the chance to meet real challenges. This programme offers ideal conditions for your group to experience their very own adventure. Together, they will have to find their way through the forest, cross streams and climb over rocks. In these situations, the national park ranger gives advice on how to act outdoors and shows you edible wild fruit, plants and mushrooms. Games of skill require cooperation and create team spirit.

Life of the forest

A forest is a lot more than just the sum of its trees. It is home to a variety of plants and animals, functions as a green lung and protects our villages from natural hazards. It supplies natural reserves, is a place to relax and an adventure playground at the same time. These are a lot of good reasons for future generations to learn more about the ecosystem forest. We invite children to experience the forest with all their senses. They can get a feeling for the different types of trees, walk barefoot on the forest soil, smell the tree resin, listen to the forest’s sounds and imagine goblins and elves. With professional guidance from the national park rangers, older pupils learn to determine the most common domestic types of trees as well as how they adapt to the mountain climate. Furthermore, they will get to know more about the forest’s various layers of vegetation, the different types of forests and how to read the tracks of wild animals.

Overnight stay in a mountain hut

This programme combines an alpine ecological expedition with the unique experience of an overnight stay in a mountain hut. The hike to the hut leads through the different alpine levels and gives a lot of opportunities to observe the peculiarities of flora and fauna. After refreshments and some rest at the hut, the pupils will explore the surroundings with the national park ranger. The next day, depending on your time table and the group’s wishes, you can climb a small peak, learn more about alpine ecology or descend into the valley at a leisurely pace.

Winter experience

Pupils can experience winter off the beaten track with snow boots on their feet. Deep snow, hoar frost on trees and iced streams give an idea of the impact this season has on nature. Footprints, traces of nests and feeding, which are easy to spot in the snow, reveal a lot about the typical behaviour of animals in winter. Survival strategies of plants are also a topic that will be addressed during this expedition. For us human beings, winter is not without its dangers either. In a playful way, children and teenagers learn how to use an avalanche transceiver, a shovel and an avalanche probe as well as how to build a bivouac out of snow. Afterwards, those who are still full of energy can try their hand at snow and ice sculpturing and build their own (ephemeral) monument in the winter countryside.
